General enquiries: What are the legal alcohol levels in Switzerland?

In Switzerland, you can drive with a blood alcohol level below 0.25 mg/L or 0.50 ‰.

There is a special limit for new drivers: If you are in possession of a trial license, there is zero tolerance for drinking and driving in the first 12 months after it is issued.

Administrative and monetary penalties will be applied for non-compliance with these rules. Learn more in this article.

It’s always best to have zero alcohol in your blood when you drive. The first drink already has an impact on your vigilance. This can cause tragic accidents, so remember: drink or drive, you have to decide!

Legally yours,
