What are the different types of work or residency permits available in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)?

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) offer several types of work or residency permits for foreigners who wish to work, study, or reside in the UAE. Here are some of the most common permits:

  1. Work permit: This permit is issued to foreigners who have secured employment in the UAE and have been sponsored by their employer. Employers must submit an online work permit application and provide documents such as a contract of employment and proof of professional training.
  2. Residence permit: This permit is issued to foreigners who wish to live in the UAE. There are several types of residence permits, including long-term residence permits, residence permits for entrepreneurs, residence permits for retirees, and residence permits for students.
  3. Student visa: This visa is issued to foreign students who wish to study in a school or university in the UAE. Students must provide proof of enrollment in an educational institution and proof of funding.
  4. Visit visa: This visa is issued to foreigners who wish to visit the UAE for personal or business reasons. Visit visas can be issued for a duration of 30 days, 60 days, or 90 days.
  5. Transit visa: This visa is issued to foreigners who are transiting through the UAE on their way to another destination. Transit visas can be issued for a maximum duration of 96 hours.
