The child of a Swiss citizen automatically acquires Swiss nationality. In a binational marriage, the canton and commune of origin of the child will be that of the Swiss parent.

Can my child be binational?

In Switzerland, yes! Dual citizenship is recognised by Swiss law.

However, you will have to check whether this principle is allowed in the spouse’s country. This can be determined at the corresponding consular authority.

Do you need clarification or help in obtaining the nationality of your children? Lawrence answers all your questions and assists you in your legal steps!
